“Key person – 3.26. Each child must be assigned a key person. Their role is to help ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs (in accordance with paragraph 1.11), to help the child become familiar with the setting, offer a settled relationship for the child and build a relationship with their parents”. (DfE, 2012).
Through our key person system, each child at Forest Nursery will have a specific member of staff to be their special person who knows them best of all. Key persons are decided upon a number of factors but primarily we endeavour to assign a key person who will be spending the most time with your child, along with acknowledging skills and personality which will best support your child while they are at nursery.
The key person will be responsible for the transition of your child into nursery, observing, assessing and planning the learning and development of your child and will be the first ‘port of call’ for you and your child. Our door is always open at Forest nursery and we welcome opportunities to meet and discuss with parents/carers any aspects of their child’s welfare and learning.
